But when it’s overproduced, it causes us to feel stressed, anxious, and worried all of the time.
Cortisol in it’s right quantity helps us to feel some pressure and urgency to get things done. Making matters worse, long term sleep deprivation leads to over production of cortisol. As sleep deprivation continues over a long period of time, even our hormone production is completely thrown out of balance. Our mood fluctuates more frequently and more drastically than it should. We become less coordinated and alert, leading to more accidents and mishaps. Drowsiness slows down our reaction time and awareness. We have trouble committing things that we have experienced and learned that day into long term memory. Several things happen as a result of this. So being sleep deprived is not just a feeling, it is a physically impaired state of living. In fact, our brain actually starts shutting down certain areas and functions that are not necessary for survival. That simply means that our brain does not function properly. When we are sleep deprived, our brain actually malfunctions. Without sleep, we feel like… well, zombies.Īs if feeling tired isn’t already enough of a problem, there’s more to the story. It’s likely that you’ve learned this lesson for yourself, and it’s also likely that you’ve heard from many others who have learned it as well. If you have lived for any amount of time, it’s no doubt that you have heard someone tell you how important sleep is. You’ve seen them on the bus, or walking down the street, barely conscious as they go to and from work. You’ve seen them at school and on college campuses, asleep with their head on the desk. They were the parent that could barely hold their head up from a long day of work. You’ve seen them out at night with their kids. You’ve seen them at work in the break room brewing their third pot of coffee for the day. And I believe that you’ve seen them with your own eyes. Because I believe that zombies have been around for quite a while. This idea has made for some very entertaining, majorly successful, and award-winning shows and films.
In both TV and Movies, there’s a subject that has done very well in the last few years: Zombies.
